Global Youth Work Project East Midlands..Enabling effective support for global youth
work across the region
The Global Youth Work Project East Midlands is funded by the Department for International
Development and coordinated by Global Education Derby with the support of the East
Midlands Regional Youth Work Unit, MUNDI, Leicester Masaya Link Group, De Montfort
University and Transformations Ltd.
Building on the strength of existing support for global youth work in the region
the integration of global dimensions in the schools sector, the overarching aim
of this project is to bring about an expansion in the scope and quality of global
youth work carried out in the East Midlands region through the development of resources,
training programmes, networking opportunities and events.
The project comprises of a range of activity which combined together contribute
to achieving the project aim.
Such activity includes:
- Research led by DMU into the state of global youth work in Higher Education youth
and community programmes.
- Training a group of youth workers from across the region at post graduate level
to become peer leaders in global youth work within their own organisations.
- The development of new resources for use with young people and as training tools
for youth workers.
- The establishment of locally placed support and resources for youth workers through
Development Education Centres
- Support of the East Midlands International Youth Work and Development Education
Network
- Annual showcasing events and conferences for young people and youth workers.
